In 1999 Aoshima changed their RX-7 FD3S tooling slightly by making the front facia a separate piece. This allows them to do yet more versions. Sofar they have created kits of a Mazdaspeed GT-Concept, VeilSide Combat Models 1 and 2 and C-West, Bomex and Vertex street-racers.
I have added a list of links to websites of car tuners mentioned in the text at the end of this page. Links in the text refer to this list.

This is a brand new kit of a brand new RX-7 version: Mazdaspeed's GT-Concept, a 1999 RX-7 type RS
brought as close to Japan GT Championship specs as is legally possible for street use. The kit is based on the familiar nr.87 kit but the body is updated and now comes with a separate front bumper and the transparent parts come with updated circular tail lights and new front light covers. Other new parts are a full Mazdaspeed GT-C Aero Kit with side and rear skirts, front airdam and high mounted rear spoiler, authentic 18in Mazdaspeed/Rays MS-01MAG wheels (satin gold colored plating), a new exhaust system (beautifully bright plated), a large oil cooler and a new steering wheel. A new set of decals offers the latest red-on-white dials (yes, that rev counter goes up to 10.000rpm, with the yellow zone starting at just over 8000rpm !) and a full set of (optional) Mazdaspeed GT-C logo's. To top it off, Aoshima added a beautiful set of the latest Bridgestone G-Grid tires. There are some useful detail pictures of a real RX-7 GT-C printed on the side of the box. |

Here is a picture of what the real RX-7 GT-C looks like, note that the kit does not contain the slotted
Aero-Bonnet. This Aero-Bonnet is available separately from Little Garage, part nr. CSP-03. |

In December 2000 Aoshima also released the Mazdaspeed RX-7 GT-C kit with the body parts painted in a bright blue metallic color. |

In January 2008 Aoshima did a rerelease of the GT-C kit, only differences are the box art and the color of the body and aerokit parts, which are now molded in metallic blue. |

This is a limited release of the GT-Concept kit with the decals replaced by a large sheet of Itasha decals. The box-top sized decal sheet provides decals for one version plus a lot of optional items for adorning the car to your own taste with characters from the 'Working!!' manga. Apart from the decals the kit is identical to the regular GT-C release. Body parts, aerokit parts and interior are molded in white, chassis parts are molded in black, MS-01MAG wheels are satin gold painted, the rear exhaust pipe and muffler are brightly plated, the spare stock wheels are not plated. Tires are Bridgestone G-Grid. |

This kit is based on the same set of patterns used for the GT-Concept version and
like the GT-Concept it is an accurate representation of a car tuner's special. It comes with a new front bumper, aerokit, rear wing and door mirrors and a brightly chromed big-bore exhaust pipe. Wheels in this kit are a set of satin chromed 18in wheels with separate brightly chromed rims and very nice copies of the latest style Pirelli P-Zero tires. The wheels differ a bit from the actual Marriott wheels, if this bothers you Fujimi does a very good set of VeilSide Marriott replacement wheels. The kit depicts the Combat Model 1 version, based on the early type FD3S with square tail lights and Efini badges on the rear end. |

There are no pictures of the real car on the side of the box this time, I borrowed the picture of the real car on the right from the announcement on the Aoshima web site. More pics and info on VeilSide body kits can be found on the VeilSide web sites. |

| In December 2000 Aoshima also released the Veil Side RX-7 kit with the body parts painted in a brownish titanium metallic color. |

This is the same VeilSide kit as the ones listed above, but this time the body parts and the skirts
and spoilers are molded in a type of plastic that changes color with the angle of view (similar to the effects
of prismatic 'flip-flop' paints). Note that the body parts in this kit are not painted ! The idea is great, but the actual result is let down by dark mold lines running along the roof and engine cover and by the translucency of the plastic. The translucency can be countered by painting the insides of the body with a dark color, but parts like the rear wing have to remain translucent. If you want to paint the model yourself, GSI Creos (Gunze Sangyo) sells Maziora paint: CM-04 'Trapezium' is the same shade as the body parts of this kit, but note that this paint is expensive at 2000 Yen for 18ml. New parts in this kit are an optional set of dark tinted clear parts which come in addition to the regular clear parts. |

This kit is an updated version of the VeilSide Combat Model 1 kit. New parts for this update are a new nose cone with new clear indicator lenses, a new raised rear wing, new door mirrors, a new steering wheel and a new set of decals. On the right is a small picture I found on the Aoshima website, showing a real FD with the full VeilSide Combat II aerokit fitted. This kit is a good starting point if you want to create the car that stars in the movie The Fast and the Furious which was basically a '93 FD fitted with a VeilSide Combat II aerokit and a seriously uprated engine. On the outside the main differences between this kit and the movie car are the wild paint scheme, recessed Amemiya headlights, old style tail lights and 18in VeilSide Andrew Racing efF wheels, none of which are included in this kit. Other parts required for this conversion are a LHD dash, a set of Apex gauges, Sparco racing harnesses and a new VeilSide steering wheel and aluminum shift knob. The wheels are available separately from Fujimi (Parts Maker Wheel series nr.2, cat.nr. 19210), the LHD interior and the recessed headlights can be found in the revised Bomex kit (the headlights were also made by Little Garage, cat.nr. CSP-07). |

Yet another new RX-7 FD3S Tuner Special, this time done by japanese tuner C-West. This is quite a hot looking car with recessed headlights, raised competition-style rear wing and an impressive spoiler kit. Body and cabin interior parts are molded in white, chassis parts are molded in black, the stock wheels are satin plated and there's five sets of new parts added:

Japanese US based tuner Bomex recently got famous for the work they did on the cars of the
movie 'The Fast and the Furious', in particular the bright orange Toyota Supra.
Bomex also made quite a few bits for the RX-7 FD, so Aoshima added this Bomex tuned FD to their range. Body and cabin interior parts are molded in white, chassis parts are molded in black, the stock wheels are not plated this time, but a sheet chromed plastic film is included for the mirrors (which are on the same parts tree as the stock wheels are). The body once again has a separate front bumper, taillights are of the late circular type. A set of clear parts is included with the C-West recessed headlight covers but these are not used (the lower part of the headlight assemblies is not included, these can be found in GT-Wing set pt.2). The kit contains the following new parts:

Apart from the regular RX-7 FD Bomex release, there is also a special limited edition made of this kit
with a paint scheme that looks like the Supra in the movie 'The Fast and the Furious'. Differences between the regular RX-7 FD Bomex release and this one are:

The model does not match the picture on the Aoshima website (which I copied here) but instead does look like the US version that can be found on the Bomex US website. The Racing Hart CR wheels fitted to the car on this picture are available separately from Aoshima. |

This is an improved version of the Bomex Special Edition kit, on the outside of the box the changed boxart and the new catalog number are aparent,
on the inside the news is much more spectacular. Compared to the first release the following parts are added:
Body, interior and aerokit parts are molded in metallic orange, chassis parts are molded in black, the stock wheels are not plated, but the 5-spoke TRD wheels are satin aluminum plated. Both decal sheets are the same as those in the first release. Two of the most sought after options (Amemiya style headlights and lefthand drive interior) in a single kit should make this kit the RX-7 FD kit you'll definitely want to get ! |

Another hot FD tuner special, this box is really packed with parts. Quite a number of the parts are marked as 'not used' but this offers a nice opportunity to customize the kit yourself.
The body once again has a separate front bumper and this time it also has venting slots in the bonnet. The kit does not contain the 18in Yokohama AVS Model5 wheels that are shown on the pictures on the box, but instead contains the same type 18in Advan RG wheels that can also be found in the C-West kit. The kit contains the following new parts:
Body and aerokit parts are molded in bright yellow, interior parts and wheels are molded in white and chassis parts are molded in black, the wheels are not plated. Taillights are of the late circular type. A set of clear parts is included with the C-West recessed headlight covers but these are not used (the lower part of the C-West headlight assemblies is not included, these can be found in GT-Wing set pt.2). A set of decals is included with license plates, dials and Car Make T&E and parts maker logos plus a separate sheet of carbon weave print for the bonnet and the rear wing. |

This is a modified rerelease of the Vertex FD tuner special. Most obvious change are the new 19in Volks RE30 wheels fitted with Pirelli P7000 tires which replace the 18in Advan RG wheels of the previous release. As the new wheels have bushings instead of axle stubs, an additional set of chassis parts is included to accept these wheels, these chassis parts are the same as those in the RX-7 FD3S in the Drift Machine Series.
In addition to the new wheels and the new chassis parts, the kit contains all parts of the previous release.
Body and aerokit parts are molded in bright red, the interior parts and the alternate chassis parts on the E and F-trees are molded in white and chassis parts are molded in black, the RE30 wheels are satin plated, the exhaust parts are brightly plated.
A set of decals is included with license plates, dials and Car Make T&E and parts maker logos plus. The parts maker logos are now printed in silver and white (the decals in the previous release came with black logos). The separate sheet of carbon weave print is no longer included.
A set of pre-cut masks for the inside edges of the windows is now included.

This kit stands out among the other tuned RX-7's in this series because it can be made to represent the actual race car that was used to win the Japanese 2003 D1 (drift race) Championship. The kit contains all of the parts of the Vertex kit listed above apart from:
The large set of decals contains all markings for making either the actual race car or a street legal replica. The silver and gold colored lettering is well represented, but the red lettering on the real race car is also a metallic color whereas the decals are non-metallic red. The box top shows a nice picture of the race car in action, the side of the box shows some very useful front, rear and side views of the race car. |

This is a rerelease of the same kit that was in the S-package Ver.R series.
Only differences are the box top, the instruction sheet and the kit name on the decal sheet. The instruction sheet now comes with more info on the Japanese 2003 D1 (drift race) Championship and a greyscale picture of the real car.
Apart from the kit name in the lower righthand corner, the decal sheet is identical to the earlier release, it is still printed in non-metallic red. |

This is a limited edition kit of the 2002 D1 winner at the Sugo racetrack. The kit is based on the C-West kit with some new parts added:
The model differs a bit from the photograph of the real car on the boxtop: wheels in the kit are 6-spoke Advan RG, there are no flares for the rear wheel arches included and there are no raised headlights included. Body and aerokit parts are molded in metallic orange, interior and chassis parts are molded in black, the additional rear wing is molded in white, the wheels are painted bright 'gold'. Taillights are of the late circular type. A complete set of parts for the C-West recessed headlights is included, but these are not used. |

Aoshima went all the way when developing this kit, it isn't just an upgraded standard kit, there are so many new parts that it only shares the chassis parts, the tires and the windows with previous RX-7 FD kits:
Two decal sheets are included, one with all markings for the 2005 version, the other with carbon print for the hood. |
